Just do it.
Sunday Scoop #44 - This week, I recycle one of my top performing tweets back when I was (relevantly) active on Twitter.
Hey friends,
I have a handful of ideas I would love to spend half the day writing and sharing with you. However, I think that both you and the idea deserve more of my attention and time to properly craft an idea or a believe that I have into proper writing.
I’ve stored these ideas in my Content Manager in Notion and I plan to work on them once I have more time to sort out my ideas into cohesive writing.
For now, I’m sharing with you one of my top performing tweets that I published in 2020.
You don't do something because you’re good at doing it.
You’re good at doing something because you do it.
Many of us buy into this concept that 'People do things that they are good at'. I think that this is one of the biggest fallacy that society lure us into believing. This belief is not only false, but it can also quickly turn into something detrimental and toxic.
Anyone that holds the said concept in mind will inevitably start to question one's own capability.
"He or she is so admirable and such an idol, going around doing so many things. How can I ever do anything when I'm not good at doing anything?
That's simply not the case here.
You don't do Mathematics because you're good at it. You're good at Mathematics because you do it.
You don't play football because you're good at it. You're good at football because you play it.
Everyone you look up to now, started off as an amateur. The next time you catch yourself doubting your abilities about going after what you want, remember this: "You don't do something because you’re good at doing it. You’re good at doing something because you do it."
Incredibly sorry for the constantly recycling of content nowadays and I promise to get my head back in the game once things start to settle down a bit. (Already have quite a few projects on the backburner!)
Have a productive week ahead.
Jia Shing.
